Project: Duke Energy - Buck Combined Cycle Station
Industry Served: Heavy Industrial, Power Producers,
Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Tons of Steel: 325
Nu Steel fabricated the heat recovery steam generators for Duke Energy’s Buck Combined Cycle Station in Salisbury, North Carolina. The Buck Combined Cycle Station uses some of the most flexible and efficient fossil generation technologies out there. The station opened in 2011 and utilizes a steam turbine-generator set to produce electricity, two natural gas-fired combustion turbine-generator sets and two heat recovery steam generators. A remarkably cleaner source of power, the plant produces 92 percent less nitrogen oxides and almost 100 percent less sulfur dioxide.
